‘To host His presence - to be His dwelling place’ Some frquently asked questions... Who are we? We are a charismatic evangelical church and members of the Evangelical Alliance. • We were established 1989 • Our leaders meet with other church leaders in Eastbourne for fellowship and prayer. In the simplest form what do we believe? • The Bible is the revealed word of God and we accept its authority in our lives. • Jesus Christ is the Son of God. • He came in the flesh, died for our sins and rose again. • By belief in His sacrifice we are made right with God because as the Son He is the only way to the Father. • God is the creator of heaven and earth and all that is in it. • The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. • Through obedience to God's word enabled by the Holy Spirit we grow in the character of Jesus Christ. • The Holy Spirit gives supernatural gifts to believers today. How do we operate as a Church? • We believe the New Testament speaks of two offices in the church - elders and deacons • We believe the government of the church is under eldership authority. • There are different types of gifts and function in the Church of God, apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher, evangelist • The function of these leaders is to equip and edify the saints (the Church members) for ministry. How do I join the Church? • Firstly you must be joined to Jesus Christ by: Repenting and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Personal Saviour and Lord; have been through believers' baptism and desire to follow and respect godly direction by Church leaders. Is there anything else I need to know? • We believe we have a purpose to fulfil. • We believe in ongoing discipleship and training for works of service • We believe in every member participation of church life, all are priests to God. • While we believe giving is between God and the individual we believe in the principle of Biblical tithing. • We see in the Bible that if you were of the "household" you belonged to that body and came under the blessing of God. We believe God sets us in families and there is no formal membership of a family but there is an accepted recognition of privilege and responsibility in belonging
